A determined 20-year-old, Kendra Hale is from Christiansburg, VA. She is a rising junior at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA with an Environmental Policy and Planning major and a Leadership and Social Change minor. Kendra plans to pursue a Masters in Public Administration after graduating with her degree. Having graduated as Valedictorian of her high school, she has strived to always maintain high academic honors. While in high school, she authored two research papers and presented both at the Virginia Junior Academy of Science. Kendra has received various academic awards and scholarships.
Kendra is a member of the Honors College and Honors Residential Commons at Virginia Tech. She also sits on the Virginia Collegiate Honors Conference Council as the 4-year Public University representative and is the College of Architecture and Urban Studies Liaison on the Honors College Student Council. Kendra is also involved with the Virginia Tech Student Life Council, Residence Hall Federation, teaches an Honors Seminar to incoming freshman, and is a member of a local dance team.
Kendra’s personal platform is Healing Hearts, a platform dedicated to enhancing the lives of others. Originally dedicated to helping hospital patients and their families, she has now expanded her platform to helping the lives of everyone. Whether it’s working for various fundraising causes, decorating craft butterflies for patients, helping victims of fires, or helping those that have been bullied, Healing Hearts has a place for everyone. Kendra has volunteered with a wide variety of organizations, including Butterfly Hugs, the Ronald McDonald House, Bark for Life, and the G.R.A.C.E. Project, just to name a few. She has also raised over $1,000 for Give Kids the World, an organization close to her heart. She is excited to continue her work with the Crown C.A.R.E.S. after spreading the message to many students during her state reign. While holding her state title, she took her crown to 7 states and 11 countries. Kendra plans to continue this work by taking the Crown C.A.R.E.S. to multiple countries throughout the year.
With her USA National Miss title, Kendra plans to work on translating Crown C.A.R.E.S. literature and developing anti-bullying workshops to be used in other countries. She also plans on speaking to many kids and adults throughout her reign on anti-bullying matters. With a heart for travel, Kendra wants to take the national platform and crown around the world.
Kendra cherishes USA National Miss for its unique focus on the true inner beauty of each and every contestant. She values this system because they remind every girl that they are uniquely created and loved by God. With a goal of spreading this message and the anti-bullying message of the Crown C.A.R.E.S., Kendra is excited for her year as USA National Miss.
