UNM is excited to announce the addition of a former Miss Universe as a 2018 national judge! Michelle McLean-Bailey, Miss Universe 1992, has over 25 years of experience in media, and is an internationally recognized model, television personality, speaker, entrepreneur and philanthropist. She started her international modeling career at 13 years old and won the Miss Universe title in 1992 at the age of 19 as Miss Namibia. She is the only woman from that country to ever win the Miss Universe crown. In 1998, The Miss Universe Organization presented Michelle with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her philanthropic work, and in 2014, Michelle served as a judge for the Miss Universe pageant. Close to her heart is the Michelle McLean Children’s Trust which she established in Namibia in 1992. It has initiated and run hundreds of projects over the past 26 years, including 10 projects with international celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Michelle is presently working on a book on helping women to cope with the demands of the beauty industry and self-esteem issues and also assists young women with interviewing skills and walking techniques.
Michelle will be hosting a workshop for our delegates after nationals has concluded, and more information will be provided to all delegates shortly. Want to train and get tips from a former Miss Universe? #OnlyAtUNM
